The Versatility League

The Versatility league is intended to showcase and champion participation in club ‘Championship’ events throughout a season.
Each season, two winners will be crowned (Open and Female category).
But the real competition is bragging rights over your mates, up and down the league table.
There are 8 ‘Championship’ events over the season. The 4 highest scores will count.
Points
Athletes score points by competing in the Championship events.
Points are allocated based on the athletes time relative to the outright winner.
You get 1,000 points for winning the event. Otherwise, points are distributed relative to the winners time;
Your Points = (Winner’s time / Your time) x 1,000
Some events will be more lucrative than others, depending on how fast the winner is, so why not attend all the events to maximise your points?
Additionally, 25 points are awarded for every event an athlete shows up and races at. These 25 points are not part of the ‘4 highest scores’, so if you participate in all 8 events, that’s 200 points just for showing up!
Example
Sarah takes overall victory at the race, with a time of 1:05:09, they receive 1,000 points for the win, and 25 points just for showing up.
Sally finishes 12th, with a time of 1:23:46, they receives points 778 points (3,090 secs / 5,026 secs x 1000) and 25 points just for showing up.
Remembering how the points are calculated is not important, only that they’re relative to the winner.
Age Group Adjustment
For the first ‘Trial’ year (2026), there will be no age group adjustment. This is complicated enough as it is!
However, if the format proves popular, we can add an age-adjustment to keep things fun for all.
Prizes
No prizes as yet. Other than bragging rights over your mates. But watch this space. If the idea is successful we may add something at the AGM.
Rules
| Eligibility | Same as Championship events – must be a paid-up club member at time of event to score points. Must be wearing club kit as you cross the finish line. |
| Scoring | Only your top 4 scores count toward your total. The scores must come from events that encompass all 3 triathlon disciplines (i.e. you must get wet at least once, you must get on your bike at least once, and you must lace your running shoes at least once). |
| Tie-Breaker | If total points are equal, the person who completed the most events wins. If still equal, the result in the last championship event of the season will decide the winner (currently the Givaudan 10k). |
| DNF/DNS | Did not Finish / Start = 0 points (+ 25 for attendance). |
| Categories | There are two categories, Open & Female – points are scored based on your distance from the overall event winner of your category. |
