Last night, under the floodlights of the Julie Rose Stadium, Ashford Tri Club came together to celebrate a huge milestone — our 20th Anniversary. And in true ATC style, we marked the occasion not with beer and speeches (well… not just that), but with a gloriously chaotic, rain-soaked team relay running race.
Despite the drizzle and the December darkness, spirits were sky-high as nine teams of four took to the track. Each athlete ran five 400m laps, totalling 20 laps per team — a perfect blend of speed, grit, and just enough lung-burn to make us question our life choices.
Expert “Equal” Team Selection… Sort Of
Huge credit goes to our brilliant coaching team for organising the evening. To keep the teams balanced, they asked everyone for their most recent 5k times. Naturally, being the highly competitive creatures we are, everyone lied.
Let’s just say the coaches will take self-reported times with a pinch of salt in future.
20 Years Strong — And Still Getting Faster
It was the perfect way to mark two decades of Ashford Tri Club: a mix of competition, camaraderie, laughter, and a trip to the pub afterwards. Here’s to many more years of racing, training, and celebrating together.
Happy 20th Anniversary, ATC!
